CASE STUDY:
USI’s client, a restaurant chain with nearly 100 locations, leased all of its property from 30 different entities in multiple markets. Each entity had a unique lease contract—none of which had been reviewed in conjunction with the client’s liability insurance. USI’s Business Services Team reviewed the independent lease contracts, revealing that the client had agreed to take on risks not covered in their existing general liability insurance policy. The contract discrepancies exposed the company to up to $1,000,000 in uncovered risks. USI amended the liability insurance policy language to meet the requirements of the lease contracts thereby eliminating the uncovered exposure and saving the client from a potential $1 million loss.
